Sharad Pawar Says He Will Help Students Get More Government Jobs
Sharad Pawar, a political leader and the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), has promised to help students who want more job openings in the Maharashtra government. These students are taking a test called the Joint Preliminary Examination Combine (JPE), organized by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), which helps people get jobs like Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), State Tax Inspector (STI), and Assistant Section Officer (ASO). This important test is happening after two years, and students are worried because the number of advertised vacancies is limited.
Sharad Pawar Listened to the Students’ Concerns
On Tuesday, Sharad Pawar met with a group of MPSC aspirants at the Yashwantrao Chavan Center in Mumbai. The students asked him to help them get more job openings for the JPE Combine. Right now, only 480 vacancies have been advertised, with 216 for PSI, 209 for STI, and 55 for ASO, which they say is too few considering the long gap since the last JPE. Pawar agreed, saying that because the test is happening after two years, and because there are many vacant positions in the government, the Maharashtra government or the MPSC should have no problem making more jobs available.
He also said on social media platform X that he will personally write to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and call him today to ask for an increase in vacancies.

Students Also Want More Time to Prepare for the State Services Main Examination 2024
The students also asked for more time to prepare for another important test, the State Services Main Examination 2024. Sharad Pawar said they should have enough time to study effectively. He also said he discussed this matter with the MPSC Chairman two days earlier. The MPSC Commission has assured the aspirants that a meeting will be held to address their grievances.
Although a meeting was initially planned for April 15th, it did not happen, according to the aspirants. Pawar said he hopes the meeting will happen soon and that the MPSC will consider the students’ demands sympathetically and take positive decisions.
More Jobs Needed in Maharashtra Government and Next Steps
The MPSC JPE Combine is meant to streamline recruitment for important jobs in the Maharashtra government, like PSI, STI, and ASO. The students want more jobs because there are many unfilled positions, and they want a chance to take on positions that are critical for efficient state operations.
Sharad Pawar’s involvement and his direct appeal to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have brought renewed attention to this issue. The aspirants are hoping that their demands, including vacancy increases and adequate preparation time for future MPSC exams, will soon be resolved.
Important for Students’ Future and Concluding Remarks
This meeting is a significant step for MPSC aspirants who want government jobs in Maharashtra. Leaders like Sharad Pawar are advocating for fair opportunities, emphasizing the importance of considering the students’ demands for the MPSC JPE Combine and future examinations. For students preparing for competitive exams like the State Services Main Exam 2024, positive decisions from the government and MPSC could make a big difference.
